2 Core is comprised of 40 beds, including 31 telemetry beds and nine intermediate care beds. Nursing care on this unit is provided to patients who have had cardiothoracic surgery including valve replacement, coronary artery bypass graft surgery, aneurysm repair, tumor removal, and cardiac congenital anomaly repair. These nurses are proficient in telemetry interpretation, chest tube and pacemaker care, tracheostomy care as well as arterial line and wound care. Patients are transferred to this unit within 24 hours of their surgical procedure. Nursing care is focused on cardiac education including diet, medications, activity and post surgical care.
Telemetry experience and NJ Nursing License are required; cardiac surgery experience and a Bachelor's degree are preferred.
