Prostate Cancer

Cancer Types - Prostate Cancer

The fear of having prostate cancer can be devastating to men. However, it is most successfully treated when found early. Consider these statistics from the American Cancer Society (ACS):

Early prostate cancer may not cause any symptoms. Tests can often detect prostate cancer early, but they can have drawbacks, and not all health care providers agree as to how useful they are. Talk with your doctor about whether testing is right for you.

Follow-up visits with your health care provider are extremely important if you have had an unusual DRE (digital rectal examination), or if your PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level is high. Your doctor may order additional tests or suggest repeating the PSA tests.
