Dr. Christine W. Hunter is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Chair of the Department of Anesthesia at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Hunter is the Chief of the Anesthesia Service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She leads a large group of anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists providing comprehensive anesthesia services for over 15,000 patient encounters each year. Her team holds specialty certification in pain management, critical care, trans-esophageal echocardiography, and other specialty areas.
Dr. Hunter has been board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology since 1991. After receiving her medical degree from Howard University in Washington D.C., Dr. Hunter completed an internship in Transitional Medicine also at Howard University. She went on to complete a residency in anesthesia at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, New York.
Dr. Hunter is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists, Society of Academic Anesthesia Chairs, and the Society of Neurosurgical/Anesthesia and Critical Care.
Dr. Hunter has special clinical interest in neuroanesthesia, anesthesia during endocrine surgery, and pediatric anesthesia.
