Frequently Asked Questions
Does your program accept insurance?
No, the Executive Health Program does not file insurance claims. The program will provide an itemized list of services that may be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. Payment is expected the day of your exam unless previous billing arrangements have been made with your company.
Do insurance companies reimburse for Executive Health Program services?
Reimbursements from insurance companies vary depending on the plan type. Contact your insurance provider to see if your coverage includes a physical exam through a hospital provider.
Does your program offer full body scans?
Although the program through Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has the ability to offer full body scans, the program does not promote the full body scan as a screening method for the healthy individual without symptoms. Currently the technology available provides more often than not “abnormal test results for benign or incidental finding, leading to unneeded, possibly invasive, follow up tests that may present additional risks”. (www.fda.gov, What are the Radiation Risks from CT?, 5/05)

Does your program perform virtual colonoscopy?
No, the program does not offer virtual colonoscopy at this time. Although the virtual colonoscopy has some potential benefits, a traditional colonoscopy remains the “gold-standard”. The preparation for the exam is the same as the traditional colonoscopy, and this is usually the most adverse part of the procedure. The virtual colonoscopy also does not allow for immediate removal of any suspicious polyps at the time of screening.
The Executive Health Program continues to offer the highest standard of care which is currently the traditional colonoscopy for cancer screening of the entire colon.
How long does an appointment/visit take?
The basic exam is five hours, appointments start at 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Your exam can be tailored to your individual needs and any additional testing is either added to your day or is arranged according to your schedule.
How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?
Appointment availability may vary, however the program generally schedules within 2-4 weeks.
How should I prepare for my visit?
Once you have scheduled your appointment you will receive a packet that will describe your exam, a medical questionnaire to complete and information on wearing comfortable clothing, fasting after midnight and directions for parking and arrival to the suite. Parking is free and lunch is provided.
Will you send my test results to my primary care physician?
Yes, upon request we do send a copy of your records to your primary care physician. The Executive Health Program does not replace your Primary MD and does not provide ongoing services. The goal of the program is to provide a comprehensive screening with recommendations made based on results to promote a healthy lifestyle. The program is a complement to any ongoing care provided by your Primary MD.
