At Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the Home Care Department offers a variety of services for patients who no longer require hospitalization, yet still need some degree of skilled care.
Services offered by the Home Care Department include professional nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social services and home health aides. The department also provides pain management, enterostomal services and care to the elderly.
Through customized programs designed to meet a patient's individual needs, the goal of Home Care is to restore patients to normal family living and activity. Their services can also be valuable in decreasing the length of stay in the hospital for some patients, and for others, it can help postpone or avoid nursing home placement or readmission into the hospital. The department will also provide instruction to a family member or caregiver.
Eligibility and Payment
The Home Care Department is certified by the New Jersey Department of Health and accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The office can bill Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross directly. Please contact your insurance company for coverage information.
Hours and Availability
The Home Care Department is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A registered professional nurse is also available 24 hours a day for questions or assistance.
