Meet Our Staff
Our team of University Thoracic Surgeons are all board certified and have trained in some of the best centers in the world. They operate on 95 percent of patients who have a general thoracic surgery operation at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (based on 2003 data). Surgery on the other five percent of patients is performed by private (i.e., community-based) general thoracic surgeons. The University Thoracic Surgeons provide expertise in all facets of thoracic surgery including oncology, pulmonary, esophageal, chest wall, and hyperhidrosis. State-of-the-art video-assisted thoracic surgery and mini-thoracotomy procedures are commonly performed at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Critical to the success of surgical treatment is the perioperative assessment and care by our multidisciplinary team of oncologists, pulmonologists, nurses, anesthesiologists, pathologists, pain specialists, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, and others. Together with referring physicians, our team carefully implements the best treatment plan for our patients.
