Dr. Peter Amenta Appointed as Chief of Staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

New Brunswick, NJ – Peter S. Amenta, MD, PhD, has been appointed Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief of Staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after serving as interim in the position for the past three years.

Lacy, MD, President and CEO of the hospital.

In addition to this new appointment, Dr. Amenta also serves as chief of the Pathology Service at the hospital, professor and chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and director of its residency program. He also serves as chair of the hospital’s Performance Improvement Committee, and is director of the Immunohistochemistry Shared Resource of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Dr. Amenta, of West Windsor, received his MD and PhD from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, following a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Among his many awards and honors, Dr. Amenta has been listed in Castle Connolly’s “Best Doctors in America” guide and New Jersey Monthly’s “Top Doctors in New Jersey.”

Dr. Amenta has published numerous articles contributing to an understanding of connective tissue biology and gastrointestinal pathology. Currently, Dr. Amenta is on the editorial board of the journal Human Pathology and has served as a reviewer for a number of others. He is also involved in studies funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute.
