New Brunswick Hospital Celebrates “National Take Our Children to Work Day”
Thursday, April 28, 2005
New Brunswick – Approximately 200 children, ages 8-11, enjoyed a fun-filled, educational program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in honor of national “Take Our Children To Work Day” on Thursday, April 28. Hospital tours, interactive presentations and a disc jockey were among the day’s highlights.
Children were divided into groups and rotated through 8 different activities throughout the day. During the morning hours, each group received a tour of the hospital’s Radiology and Cardiology departments, where they had the opportunity to see CAT Scan and Ultrasound equipment, as well as the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and an EKG machine. Morning activities also included presentations by the hospital’s Laboratory department and the Franklin volunteer fire department.
After having lunch with their parents, the children started a second set of activities in which they had the opportunity to see some of the equipment used in the state-of-the-art Mobile Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and other Emergency Medical Services gear. Children also participated in a Mock OR presentation, where they were “gowned up” and practiced operating on a life-size model. Additional presentations were also given by the hospital’s Child Life and Respiratory departments. The day came to a close with musical entertainment and organized dance activities by Primetime Entertainment while the children waited for their parents to arrive.
This is the twelfth year that Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is participating in the national “Take Our Children To Work Day.”
