RWJUH Wins 'Hospital of the Year Award' From NJBIZ

New Brunswick, NJ - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) is proud to announce that it has been named Hospital of the Year by NJBIZ as part of the business publication's 2009 Healthcare Heroes Awards program.

"This award is testament to the teamwork, dedication and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our entire team of faculty and private physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and staff," said Stephen K. Jones, president and CEO of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. NJBIZ, the state's leading business publication, selected RWJUH as Hospital of the Year from a group of the state's premiere health care organizations. In choosing RWJUH for the top award, NJBIZ said it honors "hospitals making extraordinary strides and exceptional achievements within health care."
In addition to the Hospital of the Year award, RWJUH is privileged to have several other Healthcare Heroes finalists. Margie McDonald, RN, Director of Volunteer Services and RWJUH's Breast Care Connection, was named finalist for Nurse of the Year; Joseph Barone, MD, Surgeon-in-Chief at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at RWJUH and Chief of the Division of Urology for the Department of Surgery at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) was a finalist in the Innovation Hero category.
Alan M. Graham, MD, FACS, Vice-Chairman, Department of Surgery for RWJUH and Norman and Ruth Rosenberg Professor of Vascular Surgery and Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery, UMDNJ-RWJMS, and Michael J. Nissenblatt, MD, clinical professor of oncology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and associate director of oncology at RWJUH, were named finalists in the Physician of the Year category.
Children's Specialized Hospital, also a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System, was a finalist in the Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation Center of the Year category.
The finalists and winners in all eight categories of NJBIZ's Third Annual Healthcare Heroes Awards program were honored at an awards breakfast at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset on June 26.
