Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital were featured in recent national and state news reports about an important New England Journal of Medicine study on heart attacks published on March 15, 2007. The study was authored by leading physicians at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and concluded that heart attack patients do not receive the same level of care during the weekend.
Experts agree that patients are better cared for at large academic medical centers like Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where our cardiac catheterization laboratory is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Around the clock, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's Center for Cardiovascular Excellence also provides standby heart bypass surgery, clinical trials that include using the latest advances in heart assist technology, and even heart transplant surgery.
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is also one of three Cardiovascular Centers of Excellence in the nation to be chosen to implant the first fully implantable artificial heart.
