Important Notice for All Visitors and Families: New Visitors’ Restrictions Due to H1N1 Influenza

Friday, November 06, 2009

In response to the spread of H1N1 influenza in our community, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) and The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at RWJUH will now require that all visitors must be 18 or older.

Additionally, all visitors will be screened for signs or symptoms of influenza-like illness when they arrive at the hospital. If staff determines that any visitor poses a risk for spreading a virus, he or she will not be permitted access to patient care areas. Children who are under 18, but who have appointments for medical tests or procedures will continue to have access to the hospital.

The temporary visitors’ restriction is to ensure that staff, patients and other visitors are protected. It will be removed when it is determined that the number of influenza-like illnesses in our community has decreased.
