Want to Look Younger? New Procedure Eliminates Baggy Eyes Without Surgery

Eliminating under eye bags and hollows once meant surgery, but advances in minimally invasive techniques and a new generation of soft tissue fillers now eliminate baggy or sunken eyes without surgery.

Unlike collagen, the new fillers provide improvement that can last as long as two years, according to facial plastic surgeon Robert Glasgold, who is an attending physician at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Since the products are identical to natural components of healthy skin and bone, they don’t require skin allergy testing. The procedure uses topical numbing cream and takes minutes. It is done in the office and a patient can drive home since there is no sedation.

Bags or hollows around the eyes are not the result of gravity, but the loss of fat volume in the face, Dr. Glasgold explained. These new fillers restore the volume, creating a smooth contour. Dr. Glasgold can be reached at (732) 846-6540.
