Root Vegetables Can’t Be "Beet"

A taste for root vegetables could be good for your kidneys, according to a large study of women ages 40 to 76. Participants who ate root vegetables, such as carrots or beets, each day had a 49% lower risk for kidney cancer than those who didn’t eat these veggies. A favorite breakfast fruit—the banana—has a protective role, too. Women who ate bananas four to six times a week had a 54% lower risk than those who didn’t eat bananas.
