Flu Precautions in Effect

February 16, 2012
Due to increased reports of flu activity in Central New Jersey, Somerset Medical Center is taking extra steps to ensure patients' safety while in our care.
The medical center has offered free flu shots to staff and physicians and has strongly encouraged them to get vaccinated to prevent spreading the flu.

Any staff member who has not had a flu shot or who is allergic to the flu shot must wear a protective mask while in patient care areas during flu season.

Employees who are experiencing symptoms of the flu will be asked to go home and will only be able to return to work when they are symptom-free. The medical center also asks that anyone who is sick not visit patients in the medical center to avoid spreading the flu virus to their loved ones.
