Free Prostate Screenings Offered Sept. 19 and Sept. 22

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center will offer free prostate cancer screenings in September as part of a research study conducted by the Prostate Cancer Education Council. The screenings will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Somerset Family Practice, which is located adjacent to the main hospital at 110 Rehill Avenue in Somerville.
Board-certified urologists will provide free screenings for men over the age of 40 or men over the age of 35 who are at high risk for prostate cancer. Screenings include a digital rectal exam and blood tests to determine prostate-specific antigen, cholesterol and testosterone levels. Men who have previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer are not eligible for the free tests.
