SOMERVILLE, NJ, Sept. 5, 2012 -- The Raritan Valley Country Club raised $4,500 to benefit The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center through a recent charity event featuring golf, tennis and swimming.
Individuals not able to participate in golf, tennis or swimming were able to support the event by purchasing 50/50 tickets, attending a dinner, and allowing two golfers to drive the ball for them on hole #9. Dr. Kathleen C. Toomey, medical director of the Steeplechase Cancer Center, was the guest speaker at the dinner.
The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center enables Central New Jersey cancer patients to see their doctors, undergo outpatient treatment and participate in promising cancer research studies – all in one place close to home. The three-story, 63,000-square-foot facility, which opened in 2007, houses radiation therapy services, infusion therapy, breast imaging services, the medical center’s research team, oncologists’ and surgeons’ offices, complementary medicine services, nutritional counseling, patient navigator services, a patient resource library and the Sanofi US Wellness Boutique.
