Somerset Medical Center Sports Medicine to host free coaches clinic Nov. 1

BRIDGEWATER, NJ, Oct. 16, 2012 -- Somerset Medical Center Sports Medicine will hold a free Coaches Clinic on Thursday, November 1, at 5:00 pm at its Sports Performance and Rehabilitation Center located in the TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, New Jersey.
High school, grade school and recreational coaches have many roles and responsibilities to play in preparing student and youth athletes for competition. The Somerset Medical Center Sports Medicine Coaches Clinic assists these coaches in meeting the needs of their athletes by providing best practices and updates on current sports medicine treatments, training methods and athlete development.
The program (open to coaches at all levels) will focus on a variety of topics relevant to today’s coaches and athletes, including:
• Update on Athlete Compliance Requirements by Eryn Cook, Assistant Director of Compliance at Rutgers University
• Kinesiotaping – An Adjunct to Care by Lou Kupferberg DPT, Physical Therapist at the Somerset Medical Center Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center
• Sudden Cardiac Death in Youth Athletes by Dr. Georgeson MD, FACC, FACP, Cardiologist at Somerset Medical Center
• Common Chronic Overuse Injuries in Youth Athletes by Dr. Jack Kripsak, D.O. Medical Director of the Somerset Medical Center Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center; and Dean Pinciotti PT, Director of the Somerset Medical Center Sports Physical Therapy Institute

Medical Director of the Somerset Medical Center Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center. “The clinics help make coaches more aware of current issues and techniques. It gives them the knowledge to better achieve excellence for their sporting program…while at the same time keeping their athletes safe and healthy.”
The Somerset Medical Center Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center is the leading provider of comprehensive sports-based programs in the Central New Jersey region to treat and prevent injury, aid recovery and enhance performance.
