Some of the possible throat cancer symptoms aren't actually caused by thyroid cancer, but can be caused by a thyroid nodule—and thyroid nodules aren't necessarily cancerous. Thyroid cancer doesn't always cause any symptoms early in the disease, but as the tumor grows, it may show some signs, including:

  • A lump or swelling in the neck
  • Changes to your voice, including increasing hoarseness, that does not go away
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Persistent cough
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Pain in your neck and throat
  • Swollen glands or lymph nodes in your neck
If you experience any these signs for longer than two weeks, make an appointment with your doctor.
