Community Health Need
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset is committed to enhancing the health of central New Jersey residents through a variety of seminars, programs, support groups and health screenings. The hospital also provides many outreach programs to the undeserved. Below are just a few of our Community Health programs.
Family Practice Maternity - provides uninsured/low-income women with comprehensive prenatal care needed to achieve healthy pregnancies and better birth outcomes. Health education and preventive care help women become better health care consumers.
Medication Assistance Program - helps disadvantaged patients acquire free and reduced-cost prescription drugs so that they are not forced to forgo vital medication or sacrifice other essentials such as food, rent and heat. Patients meet one-on-one with a Registered Nurse who helps them obtain medication and monitors their conditions.
El Poder Sobre La Diabetes - provides disease prevention education and access to diabetes management for underserved Latinos. The goal of is to improve the health and well-being of program participants so that they can prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.
