Bariatric Surgery Program
One-third of the population in the United States is considered obese. When you are obese, you have an excessive amount of body fat, much more than is considered healthy.
Anyone with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of greater than 40 or a person who is more than 100 pounds overweight is considered morbidly obese.
Obesity also brings with it other serious health problems. Some of these additional health conditions include: Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, respiratory problems, depression and infertility, just to name a few.
Morbid obesity is a serious, chronic disease brought on by a variety of factors. Bariatric surgery has been proven to show the most sustained results in patients for whom all other avenues of therapy have failed.
