Thank you to the record 534 individuals from the Somerset Health Care Foundation family who volunteered their time and talents to support many fundraising events during 2011. Events that benefited from this outstanding show of support included Music at Moorland, SHCF Golf Classic, NJ Festival of Ballooning, Saks 5th Avenue's Key to the Cure, concession stand at TD Bank ballpark, Steeplechase Distance Run, BMW Car Raffle and the Far Hills Races. Community Turns Out for Steeplechase Distance Run
Steeplechase Distance RunMore than 1,500 runners and walkers from the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset family and the community came together on October 2 to compete in the Steeplechase Distance Run in Hillsborough. This event, now in its third year, raised $145,000 for The Steeplechase Cancer Center. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event as a runner, walker, sponsor or event volunteer. Special thanks to the many physician groups who supported the run through Physicians for the Cure. Sponsorships are now available for next year's event on September 30, 2012. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset Employee Campaign a Success
This year's annual Employee Giving Campaign was aligned with the Steeplechase Distance Run. Hundreds of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset employees supported the medical center through this important fundraising campaign. Employees raised nearly $40,000 - 27% of the event total. Thank you to all of our Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset employees for their generous personal contributions to this campaign, and for adding to the success of the Steeplechase Distance Run by participating as walkers, runners or event volunteers. It's just another example of how Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset employees stand out from other hospitals.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset Diabetes Program Receives Funds from Women's Club Event
On October 15, the Canal Walk Women's Club held their annual fundraising event - a luncheon, basket raffle and fashion show "on a shoestring." Showing off their shopping savvy, models from Canal Walk in Somerset graced the runway with clothes that were purchased on sale or from a thrift shop. The models looked amazing and the event was great fun. Somerset Health Care Foundation thanks this wonderful organization for choosing Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset for the past four years as the beneficiary of their event. This year, proceeds of $17,000 benefited the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset Diabetes Center.

Thank You, Sanofi US Volunteers!
Sanofi volunteersOn October 11, Sanofi US employees helped to beautify the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset campus as part of the company's National Volunteer Week initiative.  The group of 10 green-thumbed volunteers planted fall mums and bulbs for the spring in the Frimmer Healing Garden adjacent to the Steeplechase Cancer Center, and around the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset entrance area.  Many thanks to these individuals who generously donated their time to make Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset a more pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff. 

Lady Moose Spaghetti Dinner Supports Cancer Center
The Bound Brook Women of the Moose #1232 sponsored a Spaghetti Dinner on October 22 that benefited The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. Thank you to this outstanding organization and everyone who enjoyed a delicious dinner that evening. We are pleased to announce that a gift of $3,500 was received from this savory event.
